Alessia Cara: Shapeshifter + Sweet Dream – két dal a harmadik album elé, az egyikhez klip is
Az 1996-os születésű kanadai gitáros-énekesnő Alessia Cara 2015-ben futott be Here című slágerével és Know-It-All nagylemezével, majd egy sor Troye Sivan-, Logic-, Khalid- és Zedd-kollaborációja (meg a legjobb új előadóként nyert Grammy-díja) után 2018-ban jelentette meg The Pains Of Growing című második albumát, amit 2019-ben a hatszámos This Summer EP követett. Alessia énekelte 2020-ban a Diplo-féle Major Lazer tánczenekar Music Is The Weapon lemezének első dalát, és ő nyitja a 2021 őszén érkező The Metallica Blacklist című sztárparádés tribute albumot is – de előtte még saját harmadik sorlemezéről is mutat két beharangozó dalt.
Az olasz származású Alessia Caracciolo elmondása szerint az idén érkező harmadik albumát kettősség jellemzi, ezért is mutatott be róla egyszerre két erősen eltérő szerzeményt. A kísérletezőbb, tüzesebb és szofisztikáltabb számok közül választott Shapeshiftert nagy példaképének, a néhai Amy Winehouse-nak a fő zenei segédjével, a fekete amerikai hiphop/R&B-producer Salaam Remivel készítette (ugyanabban a szobában, ahol Amy is dolgozott szerzeményein), míg a kínzó álmatlanságról szóló Sweet Dream című bolondos popdalt Madonna- és Dua Lipa-kollaborátor producerekkel, Jason Evigannel és Jon Levine-nal, továbbá az Angliában élő norvég dalszerző-énekesnő Caroline Ailin (Dua Lipa, Tove Lo, Sigrid, MØ stb.) segédletével írta. Ehhez a dalhoz már klipet is forgatott a Los Angeles-i Tusk női rendeződuóval, Kerry Furrh-ral és Olivia Mitchell-lel.
