Alice Glass – hatszámos szóló-EP a Crystal Castles volt énekesnőjétől +FRISSÍTÉS: Forgiveness – videoklip
A kanadai Crystal Castles elektro-punk sikerduóból kilépett Alice Glass (született: Margaret Osborn, 1988) a Stillbirth című 2015-ös első szólófelvétele után több mint két évvel adta csak ki második kislemezét, a Floria Sigismondi videójával megtámogatott Without Love-ot, és a Marilyn Mansonnal meghirdetett közös szeptember-októberi turné mellé már az albumbejelentést vártuk, ám a klipdal után alig egy héttel, augusztus 18-án egy címnélküli hatszámos meglepetés-EP érkezett, melynek teljes anyaga immár az énekesnő hivatalos YouTube-csatornáján is végighallgatható.
A Without Love-val nyitó, de a Stillbirth-t nem tartalmazó EP szintén Alice pasijának, a Los Angeles-i noise-rock HEALTH-ből kilépett Jupiter Keyesnek a társszerzői és produceri segítségével készült, nyomokban még megidézi a Crystal Castles brutális torzításait, de a tisztább énekkel operáló részeknél egy slágeresebb kanadai fiú-lány duónak, a Purity Ringnek, sőt az szintén honfitársnő Grimesnak az elektropopja is eszünkbe juthat. A szövegek persze sokkal durvábbak: a saját bevallása szerint egy még tinédzserkorában indult bántalmazó kapcsolatot maga mögött tudó Alice elrabolt ártatlanságról, manipulációról, dominanciáról, rabságról és szabadulásvágyról énekel (“takarodj belőlem, húzz a picsába tőlem, csendben sikítok!” – szól például a Natural Selection refrénje, már ha lehet annak nevezni). FRISSÍTÉS: Alice Glass október 24-én előállt bántalmazó kapcsolatának részletes történetével, mely szerint a Crystal Castles-vezér Ethan Kath volt a szóban forgó bántalmazója – azóta már perre is mentek egymással!
