Amanda Palmer & Jherek Bischoff: Purple Rain – Prince-feldolgozás vonósnégyessel

Az amerikai zongorista-énekesnő Amanda Palmer mindig is híres volt Prince-rajongásáról, 2013. január 1-jén a Purple Raint album teljes anyagát is előadta szilveszteri-újévi New York-i koncertjén The Grand Theft Orchestra nevű kísérőzenekarával, melynek basszistájával, a szólóelőadóként és vonóshangszerelőként is ismert Jherek Bischoff-fal azóta is együtt dolgozik.

Az első gyermeke születése után idén a stúdiózáshoz visszatérő Amanda a közös Bowie-EP-jük után Jherekkel rögzítette a Machete című márciusi szólódalát is, és most ezt a Bowie-tribute-hoz hasonló vonósnégyes-hangszerelésű kapó tízperces feldolgozást is a Purple Rain című számból, mely elé ugyanannak az 1984-es Prince-albumnak a nyitódalából, a Let’s Go Crazy-ből is átemelték a temetési beszédként induló intro sorait az életigenlő sorait. (A Bowie-EP-jükhöz hasonlóan Amandáék ennek a feldolgozásnak a bevételeit is jótékony célra ajánlották fel – egy Prince által is támogatott alapítványnak, melyet a dobosnője, Sheila E. indított hátrányos helyzetű fiatalok zeneterápiás kezelésére.)
