Beck: Thinking About You – videoklip + szereplés a Gorillaz új Cracker Island albumán
Az amerikai dalszerző-gitáros-énekes Beck a 2019-es Hyperspace című legutóbbi sorlemeze óta közreműködött egy posztumusz Leonard Cohen-albumon, továbbá Gorillaz-, Paul McCartney- és Natalie Bergman-kollaborációkban, tavaly pedig készített egy instrumentális számot a For The Birds: The Birdsong Project gyűjteményre és kiadott egy Neil Young-feldolgozást is. Most a héten a Thinking About You című új kislemezdalához mutatott be saját rendezésű klipet, és a Gorillaz ma megjelent Cracker Island albumán is hallhatjuk a Damon Albarnnal közös Possession Island duett stúdióverziójában.
Beck Hansen a sztárproducerek (Greg Kurstin, Pharrell, Paul Epworth) segédletével készített Colors és Hyperspace albumainak modern popja után – immár 50 fölött járva – most mintha visszakanyarodna a 2014-es Morning Phase nagylemez folkos-melankolikus világához: a koncerteken már 2021 óta játszott Thinking About You című szerzeményének idei stúdióverziója az Old Man című 1972-es Neil Young-dal feldolgozásának hangulati párdarabja, amit Az asztalnál című 1872-es Henri Fantin-Latour-festmény és az arról kivágott Arthur Rimbaud-fej is hangsúlyoz a borítóképeken.
A tavalyi Old Man feldolgozás videójához hasonlóan most a Thinking About You-hoz is fekete-fehér klip készült, de ezt maga Beck rendezte, aki korábban is kipróbálta már magát rendezőként néhányszor.

Beck szerepelt már társszerző-vendégénekesként a Blur-frontember Damon Albarn nagy sikerű Gorillaz popprojektjének a 2020-as Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez című legutóbbi nagylemezén is egy számban, így nem meglepő, hogy írtak és rögzítettek egy újabb közös dalt az új Gorillaz-albumra is – a koncertverzióban már tavaly ősszel bemutatott Possession Island duettjükből (melyben közös producerük, Greg Kurstin is társszerző) ma kaptuk meg a stúdióverziót:
