Broken Bells: Shelter – új szám Danger Mouse és a Shins-frontember James Mercer duójától
A Gnarls Barkley popduó tagjaként bő egy évtizede sztárrá lett multiinstrumentalista-zeneszerző-producer Danger Mouse idén előbb a New York-i Parquet Courts indie rock zenekar albumán dolgozott (Wide Awake!), majd a múlt hónapban a Tame Impala-hangmintás A$AP Rocky-klipdalnak is társproducere volt (Sundress) és a Yeah Yeah Yeahs-énekesnő Karen O-val is indított egy közös projektet (Lux Prima), a mai napon pedig egy másik duójával, a Shins-frontember James Mercer társaságában alapított space pop beütésű Broken Bellsszel is visszatért.
Az egy évtizede indult Broken Bells projekt 2010-ben állt elő címnélküli debütálásával, majd 2012-ben Mercer már újra anyazenekarával adott ki albumot (Port Of Morrow), de mivel a két zenész nagyon élvezte a közös munkát, így 2014-ben kaptunk After The Disco címmel egy második Broken Bells-nagylemezt is (melyhez két briliáns videoklipet és egy Live At The Orpheum című koncertfilmet is forgattak). Ezután a dalszerző-gitáros-énekes ismét a Shins élén tért vissza a 2016-os Dead Alive klipdallal és a 2017-ban elkészült Heartworm/The Worm’s Heart albumpárral, melynek második („kifordított”) lemezét 2018 januárjára átcsúsztatva jelentette meg – de a nyár folyamán már újra Danger Mouse-zal stúdiózott (lásd a fenti fotókat!), és most még az év vége előtt érkezett is tőlük egy friss Broken Bells-szám.
