Chris Cornell: You Never Knew My Mind – posztumusz dal Johnny Cash verséből
A tavaly májusi öngyilkossága előtti utolsó fél évben a szólófellépései mellett a Soundgarden, a Temple Of The Dog és az Audioslave élén is koncertező gitáros-énekes Chris Cornell nemcsak Az ígéret című mozifilmhez járult hozzá egy új szerzeménnyel (The Promise), de a Johnny Cash-szövegek megzenésítésére épülő sztárparádés Forever Words albumhoz is – olyan további közreműködők mellett, mint Alison Krauss, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello és persze Rosanne Cash. Az április 6-án megjelenő lemezről elsőként Cornell dalát hallhatjuk.
A 2003-ban elhunyt country óriás addig kiadatlan írásaiból összeállított 2016-os Forever Words: The Unknown Poems könyv zenei kísérőjéül szolgáló albumra a meghívott előadók Johnny Cash versei, zene nélkül maradt dalszövegei és levelei közül válogathattak. Chris Cornell – akinek két évtizede egyik szerzeményét, a Rusty Cage című Soundgarden-számot maga Cash is feldolgozta – egy nemrég megtalált verset (pontosabban verspárt) zenésített meg, és felvételét autentikus helyszínen, a Tennessee állambeli Hendersonville-ben álló The Cash Cabin Studióban rögzítette.
