Chromatics: I Want To Be Alone – klip egy 1965-ös Jackson C. Frank-dal feldolgozásához
Az amerikai Chromatics kvartett lassan fél évtizede csúszó Dear Tommy albumának felvezetéseként 2015 februárjától 2019 februárjáig már egy rakás számot kaptunk (Just Like You, I Can Never Be Myself When You’re Around, In Films, Shadow, Dear Tommy, Black Walls, Blue Girl, Time Rider), de a lemeznek még mindig nincs fix megjelenési dátuma. A szintetizátoros-producer Johnny Jewel és Ruth Radelet énekesnő együttese pár hónapja a Petals című Hole-szám átiratával állt elő, és most a legfrissebb klipjük is egy feldolgozáshoz készült.
Az I Want To Be Alone című szám eredetijét a tragikus sorsú amerikai dalszerző-gitáros-énekes Jackson C. Frank (1943–1999) az angliai folkszíntéren való tartózkodása idején írta és rögzítette 1965-ben élete egyetlen hivatalos albumára, melynek az akkoriban szintén Londonban lógó Paul Simon volt a producere, de Art Garfunkel is jelen volt az alig három óra alatt elkészült felvételeknél. Az elhatalmasodó mentális problémái miatt később pszichiátriai intézetekben és hajléktalanként tengődő, fél szemére megvakuló, és végül tüdőgyulladásba belehaló Frank briliáns szerzeményeiből a Simon & Garfunkel duó mellett az évek során olyan további folknagyságok készítettek feldolgozásokat, mint hajdani barátnője, Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch és Nick Drake, de a 2000-es években John Mayer, Mark Lanegan és a Soulsavers vagy a legfiatalabb generációból Laura Marling is tisztelgett a néhai dalnok emléke előtt.
A Dialogue címen is ismert I Want To Be Alone a Daft Punk duó 2006-os Electroma mozifilmjében is kitüntetett szerepet kapott záródalként eredeti formájában, de a mostani Chromatics-átirata is megmaradt finom akusztikus gitáros dalnak Ruth Radelet énekesnő hangjával és némi szintetizátoros díszítéssel. A feldolgozáshoz a videót maga Johnny Jewel rendezte.
