Damon Albarn: The Tower Of Montevideo – újabb dal Blur/Gorillaz-énekes szólóalbumáról
A Blur-főnök Damon Albarn idén augusztusban a Gorillaz koncertjeivel és háromszámos Meanwhile meglepetés-EP-jével volt elfoglalva, de az év többi részét szólólemezének felvezetésével töltötte: az eredetileg 2020-ra tervezett The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows koncertprodukcióhoz készült izlandi szerzeményekből – melyekből idén májusi Glastonbury-fellépésen már zenekari hangszerelésű ízelítőt adott – végül egy azonos című stúdióalbum lett, melyről a címadó dal, a Polaris, a Particles és a Royal Morning Blue után ma az ötödik beharangozó szám is megérkezett a november 12-re várható lemezmegjelenés előtt.
A billentyűs-énekes Dél-Amerika iránti vonzalmára reflektáló, és ehhez illően nosztalgikus latinos beütésű The Tower Of Montevideo címében szereplő torony az uruguayi fővárosban az 1920-as évek folyamán épült 100 méter magas Salvo-palotára utal, melyet Albarn már 2014-es Everyday Robots szólóalbuma Heavy Seas Of Love című kislemezének borítóképeként is szerepeltetett. A már azon a régi anyagon is segédkező zeneszerző-hangszerelő Mike Smith-szel és a Verve-exgitáros/The Good, The Bad & The Queen-zenésztárs Simon Tonggal közösen komponált dal stúdióverziója mellé a Sublime Boulevards – Performance Films széria részeként egy élő videót is bemutattak.
