Death Cab For Cutie: Gold Rush – videoklip +FRISSÍTÉS: I Dreamt We Spoke Again – újabb dal az új albumról

A Chris Walla távozásakor trióban maradt zenészek (Gibbard mellett a basszista-vokalista Nick Harmer és a szemüveges dobos Jason McGerr) időközben a legutóbbi album turnéjához felvett két gitáros-billentyűst, Zac Rae-t és Dave Deppert is hivatalos taggá tették, és az új anyagot már kvintettként vették fel – producerként pedig a 2015-ös lemeznél bevált Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol, The Mars Volta, At The Drive In stb.) volt ismét segítségükre.

A Thank You For Today címel augusztus 17-én megjelenő albumról pár beharangozó dalrészlet után teljes hosszában elsőként a Gold Rush című számot hallhatjuk, melyben a 2016 óta újra boldog házasságban élő Ben Gibbard a városának, Seattle-nek az utóbbi évek során történt drasztikus átalakulásáról és ezzel párhuzamosan a helyekhez kötődő saját emlékeinek módosulásról énekel – a klipben pedig egy hosszú egyenes utcán sétálva jut el a hatvanas évektől napjainkig, a mobiltelefonukban elmerült emberek tömegéig. A videót Alex Southam rendezte, akinek nevéhez már már számos emlékezetes klip fűződik (Alt-J: Tessellate, Chromeo feat. Toro y Moi: Come Alive, First Aid Kit: Stay Gold, Rae Morris: Under The Shadows , Laura Mvula: She, Phenomenal Woman, Overcome stb.).
