Glass Animals feat. Denzel Curry: Tokyo Drifting – három év után új dal az angol zenekartól
A kezdetben „az új Alt-J”-ként emlegetett Glass Animals oxfordi art-pop kvartett a Zaba című 2014-es debütalbuma után 2015-ben egy fiatal amerikai rapperrel, Joey Bada$$-szel készített egy közös dalt (Lose Control), majd 2016-ban az ambiciózus Life Itself és Youth klipekkel felvezetett How To Be A Human Being nagylemez következett (bár későbbi videói a Season 2 Episode 3-től az Agnesig már csalódást okoztak). Az együttes három év után új számmal tér most vissza – ismét egy amerikai rapperrel, a floridai Denzel Curryvel.
A szemüveges dalszerző-gitáros-producer-frontember Dave Bayley (akit a legutóbbi Glass Animals-nagylemez óta az ausztrál DJ-producer Flume 2016-os Skin albumának 2017-es Skin Companion EP 2-jén is hallhattunk) ezúttal egy Wavey Davey nevű alteregójaként tűnik fel a Tokyo Drifting című dalban, mely trap beütésével is illeszkedik a vendégrapper Curry személyéhez. „Narrátorként egy extrém alteregómat karikírozom, önmagam egy olyan verzióját, aki olyan dolgokat tud tenni, amik nekem kényelmetlenek” – mondja Bayley, aki Beyoncé megkeményített színpadi alteregójához, Sasha Fierce-hez hasonlítja a kitalált figurát. „Wavey Davey az én elbaszott Sasha Fierce karakterem, egy tahó utcai verekedő, aki tud táncolni, keményen bulizik, és spontán. Állja az ütéseket, nem érdekli, ha szarba se veszik, mert biztos önmagában. Meg tud küzdeni mindennel, amit a világ rázúdít.”
