Interpol: Number 10 – kislemezdal + NYSMAW – koncertfavorit Prince-hivatkozással
A 2000-es évekbeli posztpunk revival New York-i csúcszenekara, az Interpol a legutóbbi 2014-es El Pintor nagylemeze és a debütalbumának jubileumi turnéval ünnepelt 15 éves évfordulója (no meg Paul Banks gitáros-énekes frontembernek a Wu-Tang Clan-vezér RZA-val közös Banks & Steelz duóprojektje) után idén augusztus 24-én tér vissza Marauder című hatodik sorlemezével, melyről az első klipet kapó The Rover és a koncerteken már játszott NYSMAW (azaz Now You See Me At Work) című dal mellé most itt egy újabb szám is – az albumon a 10.
Az Interpol másik angol születésű gitárosa, a fő zeneszerző Daniel Kessler munkacíme nyomán elnevezett Number 10 eredetileg egy majdani B-oldalas bónuszdal lett volna, de befejezetlen instrumentális verziójában is elég erősnek hangzott ahhoz, hogy Paul gyorsan egy második gitártémát is feljátsszon és szöveget is felénekeljen hozzá, így még épp időben felfért a sztárproducer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips. Mercury Rev, MGMT, Tame Impala, OK Go, Spoon, The Vaccines stb.) segítségével készült albumra, stílszerűen a címében foglalt sorszámú helyre. Maga a dalszöveg a frontember elmondása szerint „egy titkos irodai románc Ella, a zsarnoki főnökasszony és egy alkalmazottja között. . . felgyülemlett (de tettre nem váltott) vágyakozás”.
