Kiesza: Crave – az új album címadó száma + karanténdalok és izolációs videók

Az 1989-es születésű Kiesa Rae Ellestadnak a nagykiadós dance-pop sztársága előtt már gitáros-énekesnőként is volt egy Kiesza albuma, tehát a Zebra Spirit Tribe nevű saját minicégénél megjelenő idei Crave már a harmadik sorlemeze lesz. Az eredetileg tavaszra tervezett visszatérő album a járványhelyzet miatt legkorábban júniusra várható a friss hírek szerint, de a művésznő életöröme töretlen: a karanténban is folyamatosan új dalokat ír és posztol azon melegében Instagram-oldalára, ma terv szerint megjelentette a lemez címadó számát (amit a norvég Electric producerduóval, Henrik Michelsennel és Edvard Førre Erfjorddal készített), de a héten még egy újabb videót is bemutatott a roppant fülbemászó – leginkább a Haim- és Carly Rae Jepsen-slágerekhez hasonlítható – All Of The Feelings című márciusi klipdalához.

Az Emery Taylor producerrel felvett számnak már az egy hónappal ezelőtt közzétett hivatalos klipjéhez is csak egy iPhone 11 Pro és egy bérelt limuzin belseje kellett, de a közvetlenül a karanténhelyzet előtt leforgatott (és az énekesnő által most áprilisban összevágott) új Isolation Video is egyetlen belső térben játszódik egy torontói padlásstúdióban – igazi felüdülés az otthonukból jelentkező zenészek vizuálisan egyhangú klausztrofób karanténvideói után.

Wrote this on my keyboard while alone in quarantine today. It put my dog to sleep so that’s a good sign. It’s about everything going on right now. It’s a scary and confusing time right now, so I wrote about it.

So I’m clearly reading lyrics in this video, because I just wrote this like four seconds ago. My songwriting career began when I was a tall ship sailor and I used to sing lullaby’s on-board the ship to help people fall sleep. All my early music was designed to calm people down. This is a side of me that literally no one gets to see and I usually keep to myself, as music is still just as much my career as it is my healing process, or a channel for my passing thoughts. I usually write these songs and then forget them, so as they come, I’ll catch a few and hold onto them for you, while we all get through this time together. Maybe I’ll post one very day! Let me know if you like these. They’re so different than what you know me as, but it’s nice to share other sides of myself and I hope some of these help calm your souls in these confusing times. Here’s another song I wrote late last night. I spent over two years in recovery from a car crash and one thing I’ve been dealing with during this quarantine are flashbacks to the isolation I felt during that dark time. I don’t think I’m alone in that I get stuck in my head sometimes. Confusion and uncertainty makes time feel like one big void. An empty space, or a blank canvas missing all of the paint. I find it’s usually towards the end of the day when my thoughts start coming at me. It was hard, when I wasn’t well, to do anything about it. Because there was nothing I could do to distract myself. I had to learn to confront my inner dialogue and separate it from my identity. And soon realized that the voice in my head wasn’t even me. It was just an unedited script of my fears and worries coming to the surface. Eventually I learned that I actually had control over this voice. I had the ability to flip the script and change the dialogue. As it comes it can be transformed. So now when I get stuck in my head, I immediately start changing script. I edit the words to my liking, and like most of the questions in my head, they end up in the never-ending diary of songs, water-falling out my soul…found and then forgotten. Usually never recorded. It’s an interesting process putting these out to you all as they come. I feel vulnerable and unprepared, but it’s also nice to know that some of you might feel the same way.
