King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard: The Dripping Tap – az új Omnium Gatherum albumról
A melbourne-i King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard pszichedelikus rockerei a járványidőszakban a 2020/2021 fordulóján kiadott K.G./L.W. albumpár és a szintetizátoros dominanciájú tavaly nyári Butterfly 3000 nagylemez (meg annak Peaches-, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith-, DJ Shadow-, DāM-FunK-, Scientist-, The Flaming Lips- és Peaking Lights-remixekből összeállított Butterfly 3001 című kiegészítője) mellett 19. stúdióalbumukként Made In Timeland címen egy vinyl korongot is kinyomtak két negyedórás számmal, most pedig már 20. sorlemezüket is elkezdték felvezetni egy 18 perces dallal.
A Made In Timeland experimentális-eklektikus számainak felvételeinél még nem volt jelen minden tag, de az Omnium Gatherum címmel várható dupla albumot már a teljes hatfős felállás együtt rögzítette a multiinstrumentalista-producer-frontember Stu Mackenzie elmondása szerint: „Ezt a stúdió sessiont jelentősnek éreztük. Jelentősnek, mert ez volt az első alkalom, hogy mind a hat Gizzard összejött a karanténban töltött rendkívül hosszú idő után. Jelentősnek, mert a valaha kiadott leghosszabb stúdióanyagunk született belőle. Jelentősnek, mert (azt gondolom) meg fogja változtatni azt, ahogyan zenét írunk és rögzítünk – legalábbis egy időre. . . Ez egy fordulópont. Egy mérföldkő. Azt hiszem, belépünk a dzsemmelős periódusunkba. Jó érzés.”
A King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard a március első hetében adott koncertjein a közelgő új lemez több dalának élő ősbemutatóját is megtartotta, melyek közül a lendületes prog-rockos The Dripping Tap már 18 perc 18 másodperces stúdióverziójában is hallható.
