Lana Del Rey: Doin’ Time +FRISSÍTÉS: a Sublime-feldolgozás első élő előadása
Az amerikai énekesnő Lana Del Rey az idén megjelenő Norman Fucking Rockwell albumának beharangozó kislemez- és klipdalai (Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch, Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me To Have – But I Have It) mellett már további új szerzeményeiből is adott ízelítőket (How To Disappear, Happiness Is A Butterfly, Cinnamon, In Your Car stb.), de legfrissebb megjelenése egy feldolgozás: a Sublime egyik 1996-os slágerének átirata a legendás kaliforniai ska-punk/reggae-rock együttesről szóló dokumentumfilmhez.
Az 1988-1996 közt működő Sublime lényegében a Nirvana napfényes ska-reggae párja volt: egy fasza power trió milliós eladású lemezekkel és egy magát kinyíró heroinista dalszerző-gitáros-énekes frontemberrel. Bradley Nowell 28 évesen adagolta túl magát, és a halála után két hónappal megjelent címnélküli harmadik Sublime-album a korszak egyik legnagyobb sikerlemeze lett, olyan slágerekkel, mint a What I Got, a Santeria vagy a George Gershwin-féle Summertime-ból kiinduló Doin’ Time. Ez utóbbi dalt dolgozta fel Lana Del Rey a Tribeca Film Festivalon két hete debütált Sublime című dokumentumfilmhez, melyet a kétszeres Oscar-díjas Bill Guttentag rendezett – és itt érdemes megemlíteni, hogy az eredeti 1996-os Sublime-számnak a producere ugyanaz a David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes, Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap stb.), aki Lana 2007-2008 fordulóján felvett első EP-jének és első albumának társszerző-producere is volt (az énekesnő akkoriban még szőke hajjal és valódi nevén, Lizzy Grantként próbált befutni).
