Natalie Imbruglia: Maybe It’s Great – dal a Strokes-gitáros Albert Hammond Jr.-ral
Az ausztrál színész-énekesnő Natalie Imbruglia a múlt hónapban a Build It Better klippel jelentette be 2021. szeptember 24-én megjelenő Firebird albumát, mely 12 év óta az első új szerzeményekre épülő lemeze. A köztes időben csak egy Male című 2015-ös feldolgozásprojekttel jelentkezett, melynek húzódalául a Strokes-frontember Julian Casablancas egyik slágerének (az Instant Crush című Daft Punk-kollaborációnak) az átiratát választotta – most pedig olyan egy saját számot is bemutat, melyet a Strokes-gitáros Albert Hammond Jr.-ral és a Strokes legutóbbi évtizedének fő hangmérnök-producerével, Gus Oberggel közösen írt és rögzített.
Ennek a kollaborációnak a híre még 2019 elejéről datálódik, Natalie és Albert akkor posztoltak ki egy közös fotót az ausztráliai stúdiózásukról, de a következő két és fél évben az énekesnő első gyermekének születése és a koronavírus-járvány miatt is csúszott az új lemez, melyre a Strokes-gitáros mellett KT Tunstall-lal, a Magic Numbers-frontember Romeo Stodarttal, az angol dalszerző Eg White-tal és Kylie Minogue gitárosával, a Xenomania-slágergyárhoz tartozó Luke Fittonnal is készültek számok.

„Egy valóra vált álom volt együtt dolgozni Albert Hammond Jr-ral. Nagyon jól éreztük magunkat a Byron Bay-i stúdiózáson, és ez a számunk igazi nyolcvanas évekbeli VHS-hangulatot sugároz. Albert energikus gitárjátéka volt a hab a tortán! Nem okozott csalódást” – mondja a művésznő a szintetikus 80s retro hangzású Maybe It’s Great című dalról, melynek véglegesítésében a Strokes-segéderők mellett Roy Kerr és Tim Bran, azaz a brit MyRiot producerduó (London Grammar, Rae Morris, Foxes, Aurora stb.) is besegített.
