Perfume Genius: Describe +FRISSÍTÉS: On The Floor – újabb klipdal a Set My Heart On Fire Immediately album elé
A meleg seattle-i art-pop billentyűs-dalszerző-énekes Perfume Genius (született: Mike Hadreas, 1981) az elmúlt öt évben főleg nők mellett tűnt fel: Christine And The Queens 2015-ös Jonathan duettjében, egy 2016-os Sharon Van Etten-kollaborációval a Grateful Dead-tribute albumon, Aldous Harding 2017-es Party lemezén és Empress Of 2018-as When I’m With Himjének duettverziójában, míg a legutóbbi saját albumára, a 2017-es No Shape-ra Weyes Bloodot hívta sztárvendégnek. 2020-as új nagylemezét most egy saját rendezésű klippel harangozza be.
Az eddigi négy stúdióalbuma (Learning – 2010, Put Your Back N 2 It – 2012, Too Bright – 2014, No Shape – 2017) között megszokott két és fél kihagyás után 2019 szeptemberben már kaptunk egy Eye In The Wall című kilenc perces új felvételt, de az még nem az új nagylemez beharangozó dala volt – bár a seattle-i The YC tánctársulat The Sun Still Burns Here című előadása, amihez született (és amiben Mike nemcsak zeneszerzőként, hanem szereplőként is részt vett), nagyban inspirálta a 2020. május 15-én érkező 13 számos Set My Heart On Fire Immediately albumot is, ahogy a mai lemezbejelentéshez közzétett Describe klip is The YC-táncosokkal készült.
„Nyitottabbnak, szabadabbnak és spirituálisan vadabbnak akartam érezni magam. . . Ezeket a dalokat azért írtam, hogy türelmesebbé és megfontoltabbá válhassak, hogy a körülöttem lebegő kaotikus szálakat összehúzzam és valami meleg, gondos, megnyugtató hálóvá fonjam” – mondja Mike az ismét Blake Mills gitáros-producerrel felvett új albumról, mely „felforgatja a maszkulinitás és a tradicionális szerepek koncepcióját”, de közben zeneileg „határozottan amerikai”. Az első kislemezdalnak választott Describe tényleg meglepően gitárcentrikus, és az énekes által rendezett klip is hasonlóan markáns munka.
