PJ Harvey & Harry Escott: An Acre Of Land – népdalfeldolgozás a Dark River filmhez
A tavalyi Szigeten is fellépett angol dalszerző-énekesnő PJ Harvey a legutóbbi The Hope Six Demolition Project albuma óta eltelt két évben több dalt is kiadott (Guilty, A Dog Called Money, I’ll Be Waiting, The Camp – ez utóbbit az egyiptomi gitáros-énekes Ramy Essammal duettben), és most egy népdalfeldolgozást is kapunk tőle, melyet a brit mozikba két hét múlva kerülő Dark River című filmhez rögzített a filmzeneszerző Harry Escott (Cukorfalat, Guantanamo, Hatalmas szív, A szégyentelen, Üdv a mocsokban) társaságában.
Clio Barnard forgatókönyvíró-rendezőnő Dark River című thrillerében egy lány az apja halálát követően visszatér – 15 év távollét után – a családi farmra, hogy átvegye azt (de ellenséges fogadtatásra talál a rokonságnál), és a tematikához adta magát az „apám rám hagyott egy hold földet” kezdetű An Acre Of Land angol népdal (ami Sing Ivy-ként is ismert és a Scarborough Fairrel is rokon), és a feldolgozásához a film zeneszerzője stílszerűen a vidéki lányként egy nyugat-angliai birkafarmon felnőtt Polly Jean Harvey-t kérte fel énekelni.
