The Streets & Tame Impala: Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better +FRISSÍTÉS: a B-oldalas szám

2020. április 14., 2:28

A Tame Impala 2015-ös Currents és 2020-as The Slow Rush albumai között eltelt fél évtizedben az ausztrál multiinstrumentalista-producer-dalszerző-énekes Kevin Parker tucatnyi kollaborációban vett részt (Mark RonsonLady GagaMiguelZHUTravis Scott, Pharrell, The WeekndA$AP RockyTheophilus London, SZA, Kali UchisCamila Cabello stb.), és most egy magához méltó multitalentumnak, a brit producer-énekes-rapper Mike Skinnernek a fő projektjével, a 2017 óta újra aktív The Streetsszel is bemutat egy közös klipdalt.

A zajos The Streets-sikereit a 2000-es évtizedben arató, majd Rob Harvey gitáros-énekesnek (a szintén 2011-ben feloszlott The Music rockzenekar frontemberének) a társaságában indított The D.O.T. duóval és The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light nevű szólóprojektjével  próbálkozó Skinner a 2017-es Burn Bridges kislemeztől kezdte újra használni az öngyújtós The Streets-logót, de azóta is csak pár számot és mindenféle grime rapperekel közös felvételeket adott ki a koncertezés mellett. Tavaly azt nyilatkozta, hogy írt egy filmet egy DJ kalandjairól, és a hozzá tervezett album mellett egy mixtape-en is dolgozik.

A most None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive címmel július 10-re bejelentett 12 számos új The Streets-anyagára sem visszatérő albumként hivatkozi, hanem mixtape-ként, melyen csupa kollaboráció szerepel olyan vendégekkel, mint a fentebb említett The D.O.T.-kolléga Rob Harvey vagy az Idles punkzenekar tagjai. A Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better című nyitódal social distancing felirattal nyitó telefonálgatós klipjében bemutatott sok underground közreműködő mellett sajnos pont ezek a híres fehér haverok nem láthatók, de a szám társszerzője, Kevin Parker szerencsére mindig feltűnik az általa énekelt refréneknél.

Go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can use it again

I was gonna call you back
I swear
Just as soon as I felt up to it

Go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can get back to it
How funny family is actually
Fuckin’ has you in bits
Your mom has good genes
But dad’s a rip

Dance like no one is awkward
To music listen too lit
You’d worry less about what they thought
If you knew how little they did
On to better things
They fucking love all of the guessing
Someone just met your ex
Thinking they met someone special

I was gonna call you back
I swear
Just as soon as I felt up to it

The phone is ringing
The phone is ringing
Can’t use it til’ it stops
I moan and listen
The tone emits
The only man in black
Hide his jackets in the cap
Brexit breakfast
Dayglo stars
I am backin’ and dashin’
Whoever’s with my ex
Needs to do better
She’s still texting me at 2 til 10
Weird liquor can taste weirdly better
When your life is fucked up

I was gonna call you back
I swear
Just as soon as I felt up to it

You go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can use it again
Love isn’t a riddle
Love isn’t made to be hard
You know I’d give you my kidney
Just don’t ever take my charger

So dance like no one is awkward
To music listen too lit
You’d worry less about what they thought
If you knew how little they did
Go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can use it again

I was gonna call you back
I swear
Just as soon as I felt up to it
It just hasn’t happened it
And I’m still gonna call you back
One day
And you can tell me all the news
That you’ve been trying to
Oh yeah

You go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can use it again
You go and call my phone
Thinking I’m doing nothing better
I’m just waiting for it to stop
So I can use it again

FRISSÍTÉS: a Tame Impalával közös áprilisi The Streets-kislemezdalhoz Mike Skinner május 8-án közzétett egy frissen írt B-oldalas számot is Where The F*&K Did April Go címmel, a tavaszi karanténról és nyári bulik elvesztéséről!

It’s you and me, is it?
The fun is over this summer
The sun is over the horizon
But the moon can see it
Blinds cast shadows of prison bars
My mind at it with a little hard stuff
My mind is shallow as a paddling pool
10K steps all in the flat
Two steps forwards, one look back
Whoever said people can’t change the world
Has never ate an uncooked bat

Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off

Philosophy and history
Kant said, „To be is to do”
Nietzsche, „To do is to be”
Frank Sinatra, „Doo-bee-doo”
„We’re all in this together”
Is the caring headline of an airline
Try and say that when your suitcase
Weighs three kilos over

It’s you and me, is it?
The fun is over this summer
The sun is over the horizon
But the moon can see it
Like Nines we’ll fly out into Milan
Four months older and bored stupid
For now you’re a model on Instagram
And I’m a soldier on Call of Duty

Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off

I can read you like a book
But the covers are far apart
April, every day’s the same
March was like March to March
Do you a favour, use these days
To read, and grow, and learn
My next-door neighbour thinks he’s a DJ
(Shut up!)

It’s you and me, is it?
The fun is over this summer
The sun is over the horizon
But the moon can see it
Your hair is lookin’ bait, you know
Scared to look in case you know
Scared to fuck what fate will throw
Where the fuck did April go?

Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off
Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off

Doctors posted in my dreams
Gathering storms brew at sea
Not for nothin’, am I doing nothin’?
Gatherin’ thoughts for a new me
Need to get back to my fightin’ weight
Need to get back to fightin’ fate
Need to get back to findin’ paper

It’s you and me, is it?
The fun is over this summer
The sun is over the horizon
But the moon can see it

Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off
Deep down inside I wanted not to want you
Deep down inside my shoe, my sock is sliding off
