Twin Shadow: Johnny & Jonnie – videoklip az év egyik legslágeresebb dalához

A szülőhazájának, a Dominikai Köztársaságnak a zenei örökségére építő Broken Horses EP után Twin Shadow egy sor újabb kislemezzel kezdett beharangozni egy 2019 augusztusára ígért albumot, de abból végül nem lett semmi, most másfél évvel később viszont karrierje egyik legfülbemászóbb szerzeményével tér vissza: a Johnny & Jonnie című dalról a napfényes szigetvilág mellett a Clash vicces reggae-számai is eszünkbe juthatnak élen a Bankrobberrel. Fontos szerepet kap benne a szaxofon is, az első hangszer, amin a kis George gyerekként megtanult játszani.

Az albumbejelentésre még várnunk kell, de a Spotify oldalára már kikerült egy sajtószöveg, mely szerint a Dominikán és Los Angelesben felvett ötödik Twin Shadow-sorlemez valós és fiktív történeteket keverő, örömtől duzzadó, kalandos anyag lesz tíz számmal, melyek a soul és a punk aranykorában készült albumok szelleméből és vitalitásából merítenek, a Sly And The Family Stone-tól a Clash-ig.

„A Johnny & Jonnie című számot fotók ihlették, melyeket Danny Lyon készített a hetvenes években El Paso környékén a határvárosok tinédzsereiről. . . Elképzeltem két fiatalembert, aki szerelmesek és elszöknek New Orleansba egy új élet reményében” – mondja a dal születéséről Twin Shadow, aki a most bemutatott saját rendezésű klipjében négy zenész (művésznevéhez illően: négyesikrek) szerepében látható.
