Wild Beasts: The Devil’s Palace – különleges mashup a februárban feloszló zenekar búcsúlemezéről
A 2012-es és 2014-es Szigeten is fellépett Wild Beasts kvartett a John Congleton producerrel felvett 2016-os Boy King album szexi funkos dalait már nem mutatta be nálunk, és úgy tűnik, már nem is fogja: a brit dream pop/indie rock zenekar két hónapja a Punk Drunk And Trembling búcsú-EP-vel és a februárra meghirdetett pár búcsúkoncerttel bejelentette feloszlását. Most azonban kiderült, hogy kapunk még egy kiadványt egy nappal a legutolsó londoni fellépés előtt: február 16-án a Domino kiadó Domino Documents sorozatának részeként érkezik egy élőben – közönség nélkül – a legendás RAK stúdióban felvett karrieráttekintő 13 számos anyag, melynek itt hallható meglepetése egy mashup önfeldolgozás két jól ismert klipdal egymásba illesztésével.
A 2008-as Limbo, Panto debütalbum The Devil’s Crayon című első kislemezdalából és a 2014-es Present Tense csúcsalbumot záró Palace-ből összevágott The Devil’s Palace címet kapó ön-mashup – melyet az együttes néhányszor 2016-os koncerteken is kipróbált élőben – már csak azért is tökéletes szemléltetője a Wild Beasts érdemeinek, mert a kvartett mindkét énekesét egyenrangúan szerepelteti: a végeredményben a 2008-as számból a frontember Hayden Thorpe és a multiinstrumentalista Tom Fleming váltogatott versszakai közül az utóbbiak maradtak meg, míg a falzetthangú zenekarvezető a 2014-es dalból illeszti be közéjük a maga részeit.
